Ice cream and fun awaits your entire family at the Woburn Public Library Sunday afternoon July 31. Come celebrate the good old summertime at our Family Ice Cream Social on the library lawn from 2 to 5 PM.

The all you can eat ice cream event costs $3 for children 12 and younger, and $5 for adults. An adult must accompany children younger than 12 years of age.  The Social is sponsored by the Yes to Our Library Committee, and all proceeds will go to the library expansion and renovation building fund.

In addition to the cool sweet treats there will be old-fashioned lawn games to test your skill and perhaps your memory. Try your luck at relay races, croquet, bocce, and a game called Viking Kub, better known as Viking bowling, that’s right, Viking bowling. Don’t know what that is? Be sure to come and find out. You could become the first pro on your block.

Children can also enjoy reading stories aloud with books chosen especially to fit our summertime ice cream theme, and free face painting is also an option when one is not eating ice cream.

Come and spend the afternoon with us for family fun and ice cream. Bring your folding chairs and picnic blankets and spread them out on the lawn, but most of all bring your ice cream appetites.

Voluntary donations of non-perishable food for the Woburn Council of Social Concern’s food pantry will also be collected during the event. Summertime is a slow collection period for the pantry. If you are able to donate the Committee will deliver the non-perishable food to the Pantry.

If you have any questions regarding the social please call the library at 781-933-0148 and ask for Library Director Kathy O’Doherty. The rain date for the event is Sunday August 7.

This event is sponsored by the Yes to Our Library Committee.
