Scrabble Club

The Scrabble Club meets on Monday afternoons from 3:30—4:30 p.m. from November to May in the Children’s Room. Students in grades 3-8 play against one another, and may opt to compete in local and regional tournaments. In April, two students are chosen to compete in the National SCRABBLE Tournament.

Interested students sign up in late October and attend practice sessions every week. Students play in pairs according to School Scrabble rules, and may also practice timed bouts, to get ready for bigger tournaments. Tip sheets, Scrabble dictionaries, and an electronic game dictionary are available, and adult coaches help players learn the skills needed to play at the top of their form. Games range from fast and furious mini-challenges to full games. Drop-ins are welcome to try their skills, but be on time because teams are assigned at 3:30 p.m.

Older students in grades 9-12 are welcome to join our Teen Scrabble program, where they will play one-on-one using adult Scrabble rules.

Come play with us and become a W*O*R*D*S*M*I*T*H!
